Nupur Daithankar

Nupur is a Bharatnatyam dancer, a danseuse par excellence. Having played a multitude of characters in her career of dance, Nupur works her heart and hand to promulgate one of the most ornate and historical dance forms, Bharatnatyam.

Daughter and disciple of Bharatnatyam exponent Guru Dr. Swati Daithankar and Santoor maestro Dr. Dhananjay Daithankar, Nupur’s innate talents have been kindled and preserved. Nupur has completed her Nritya Alankar under the tutelage of Dr. Swati Daithankar, and rightly so Swati Tai always bears an immense sense of pride having seen her caterpillar transform into a butterfly. In the fullness of time, she has completed her Master’s in Performing Arts from Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya, University of Mumbai under the able guidance of Guru Padmabhushan Dr.Smt  Kanak  Rele. Living it up to her name, (Nupur in Sanskrit means “ghunghru “or “payal”) this danseuse has swept the board by acing both these milestones!

Nupur is a proud recipient of National Scholarship (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) awards like the ‘Aikelavya Award’, ‘Nrityaratna’, ‘Tarang Padma’ and many more. For an artist the world is his canvas and he leaves no stone unturned to paint it with joy. Nupur has travelled depths across almost every part of the country.  Her choreographies reflect the rustic aroma, cultures and vibrant chatter absorbed from every patch of land. Nishabda, Moksha, are among many of Nupur’s choreographies which have left the audience enthralled

Currently Nupur runs two branches of her dance academy , Nupurnaad and more than a hundred students are pursuing their dreams under her guidance. She is a certified examiner for Nritya Alankar exams conducted by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj and a faculty member of Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune.

Wearing her heart on her sleeve, Nupur has acted in a Marathi daily, Jawai Vikat Ghene Ahe, Zee Marathi and a graded anchor for Doordarshan Mumbai and has anchored the show Dum Dama Dum. She is the leading coordinator for Sanskarbharati. The cultural dance festival Urja has been conceptualized and is coordinated by Nupur.

Nupur seeks to become a philanthropist and facilitator, to reach out to the masses through her meditation, her passion, Bharatnatyam !
